Obama pushed for Patriot Act 2.0.  Why aren't his followers livid?Huh  I know people who hated the dreaded Patriot Ace under BUSH..but haven't said a thing about now that Barry is now on board.

Germany had a Patriot Act too, right after the false flag Reichstag fire, which was blamed on communist "terrorists". The event is seen as pivotal in the establishment of Nazi Germany.

Sounds like someone's throwin' down a gauntlet.

opencongress.org says the Patriot Act is still in committee, so it hasn't been authorized yet.

http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-s2336/show

Yes, Obama has shown support for reauthorizing the bill (albeit tepid if you ask me,) but it seems to me that we oughta hold back going batshit partisan on this bill until we actually see who starts voting for it (which is what would have to happen anyway.) Obama also signed executive orders banning torture and closing Guantanamo Bay. Maybe he's just not the crazy liberal that the teabaggers think he is. Shocking huh? In any case, I'm not a fan of this reauthorization regardless of who's in the White House.

Furthermore, I'm guessing none of y'all are Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, or Ed Schultz fans. They take this to task pretty regularly. Read progressive blogs, listen to progressive radio, you'll hear the outrage. Just because the mainstream media decides not to cover it doesn't mean people aren't pissed off about it. Nice try, though. I wonder what Congressional Republican is gonna call me lazy or socialist this week because I can't afford health insurance?

Don't forget that even as the US invaded Europe as Soviet allies, it was in the minds of American commanders that the war may continue with them after Germany surrendered.  Patton sure wanted to go after 'em.  The last several months of the war was less about defeating Germany (that was nearly a done deal) and more about who got what, in regards to European real estate.

This probably belongs on a different thread.

Probably but it's a good point Leevai.

And yes I hate the Patriot Act and still do. I'll always be against it.
